Cask Ales
 (cask marque awarded)

Our cellar at the Derwentwater Arms is cut deep into the white peak rock; perhaps this contributes to the condition of our excellent cask ales. Theakstons Best Bitter and the ever popular Fullers London Pride are the two constant cask ales offer. We also serve guest ales from around the country.

Theakstons Best Bitter 3.8% Theakstons Brewery, Masham (North Yorkshire)
A yorkshire beer brewed in the traditional way using pure dales water.  A well hopped light golden session bitter with a distinct, dry refreshing taste.

Fullers London Pride 4.1% Fullers Brewery, London
London Pride is a smooth and astonishingly complex beer, which has a distinctive malty base complemented by a rich balance of well developed hop flavours from the target, challenger and northdown varieties in the brew.

Ales of the month

Canterbury Jack 3.5% Shepherd Neame Brewery, Faversham
A complex aroma of apricots, peaches and floral hops dominate and stimulate the senses. The palate is a cavalcade of fresh citrus fruits and mango combining with vibrant hop notes

Exmoor Stag 5.2% Exmoor Ales, Somerset
Initially brewed for Somerset Cricket Club Centenary, a strong copper coloured premium bitter with a good malty taste, full hopped aroma and long dry finish

The Rev. James 4.5% SA Brain & Co Ltd, Cardiff
The Rev. James is brewed to a traditional recipe and has been described as having a flavour not commonly availible these days. Full bodied and warming, The Rev. James is rich on the palate with a spicy aromatic finish
