Calver is a small village in the Hope Valley in the heart of the Peak District National Park, and an ideal base for sightseeing, walking, cycling and climbing.

Bakewell
A market town 4 miles north of Calver famous for its Bakewell puddings (not tarts!)
Bakewell Show first week in August is a great family day out.

Chatsworth House
6 miles away is the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, where Pride and Prejudice was filmed. As well as the gardens, house, farmyard and adventure playground the estate provides the most fantastic settings for the Country Fair, Samsung three day event and flower festivals.

Haddon Hall
A medieval and Tudor manor house over looking the river Wye, Haddon Hall can be found 2 miles south of Bakewell.  Haddon Hall has colourful, fragrant and romantic walled gardens full of beautiful roses.

Eyam
The famous plague village of Eyam is just 3 miles from Calver.

Castleton
For the more adventurous Castleton is only 8 miles at the other end of The Hope Valley where you can visit the caves where Blue John is mined or climb up to Pervil Castle for outstanding views of the valley and Mam Tor.

Matlock
15 miles south the Victorian town of Matlock Bath is home to the Heights of Abraham cable cars and also Gullivers Kingdom theme park.

Directions
FROM THE M1
Leave the motorway at junction 29 towards Chesterfield
At Chesterfield follow the brown signs for Chatsworth House
At Baslow roundabout follow the A623 towards Chapel-en-le-Frith
Follow the A623 into the village of Calver, take the third left- Donkey Lane
At the end of Donkey Lane you will see the Derwentwater Arms on the left.

FROM SHEFFIELD
Take the A621 from Sheffield to Baslow then follow the directions above.

FROM MANCHESTER
Take the A6 Manchester to Bakewell Road
Leave Bakewell via A619 towards Chesterfield.
After about a mile take a left, B6001 towards Calver.
On reaching the traffic light at Calver crossroads take a right towards Baslow.
Take the first right Donkey Lane, at the end of the lane  you will see The Derwentwater Arms on the left.
